The Cardiff Dog Days of Summer is held yearly, in honor our fur-ball friends, their fans and families. It is hosted by Cardiff 101 Main Street. The County of San Diego, the City of Encinitas are among those who have generously donated funds to help make this even possible. Other sponsors include the California Coast Credit Union, Dirty Dogs dog store in Cardiff and funds from Cardiff 101 Main Street.
“This is a great event to benefit the Cardiff community,” County Supervisor Dave Roberts was quoted as saying. “It is fun for the public and their pets, and is the largest of its kind in the region. The County of San Diego is proud to support this community event.”
Dog Days of Cardiff is one of the most popular attractions in north San Diego County and with good reason. It’s not only loads of fun for all, donations go to some dog-gone worthy causes such as pet rescue groups and animal shelters in San Diego.
The summer sensation for four-legged friends and families began in 2005 when the community of dog lovers decided to hone in on hounds and celebrate their four-legged best friends. The Fido festival wasted no time in catching on and is now a huge attraction.
Taking a quick glimpse back, Fetchlight Photography made Dog Days a picture perfect event for pooches and in 2012, the festivities included a dog-friendly Zumba class and couches were available to lounge in while watching television, compliments of Dog TV.
Last year, the canine celebration kicked off its tenth year. It was a big splash with a Diving Dog Competition hosted by Canidae and GoPro. Dogs of all breeds, sizes and skill-ranges were invited to take part in the cool contest to get more than just their noses wet and to determine just who the top American Diving Dog was. There was also a dog parade and a great show of people, pets and vendors.
Cardiff Dog Days of Summer is a family-friendly event that caters to both you and your canine. Admission to the event is free of charge. It’s a great way for you and your dog to beat the heat and have some cool fun in the sun so don’t forget to dog-ear the date and join us. See you there!
